If only business could be like a video game. You go at your goal 100%, and if you die in the process, simply start over.

But business is more like an ocean. Your small biz is a tiny fish, hiding in the reeds. The open sea is full of giants, waiting to gobble you up. One wrong move and BAM!! They've got you. They bite. You scream. It's over.

And as reality sinks in, you realize your business will never ever swim again...

But wait. Maybe business isn't quite so Darwinian. In the lake, when the bigger fish comes along, you must hide. But in business you get to jump up and down. Shout it all out. Make yourself known.

And those competitors. Sure, some are huge. And the giants are just waiting to eat you up. Microsoft devoured Netscape so many years ago. Napster and iTunes sucked the profit out of an army of record labels. Walmart chews up countless mom & pop retailers every year. And Walmart, in return, is being hunted by Amazon.

And it's so painful to be eaten and crushed. One wrong move and BAM!! They've got you. They bite. You scream. It's over.

And as reality sinks in, you realize... Your business is dead, but you have survived! You get to keep going. You get to start another business, newer, smarter & more effective.

You get to pick yourself up and try again...

Maybe business is kind of like the video game. You go at your goal 100%, and if you die in the process, simply start over.

Try enough times, and the odds tilt in your favor. And that's how you Beat the Game of Business.
